NuForce a name becoming recognised and quoting David Price Editor of Hi Fi World, annoying many established brands by the superb poise and musicality that these diminutive yet highly efficient amplifiers provide. The range that has received plaudits from around the world has now just got a lot better (To say the least) with the release of the new Version 3 (patented) amplifier boards.
How
they do it? The Nuforce class-N amplifiers are a novel variation on class-D
amplification. A very high frequency PWM switching circuit produces the
output waveform from the power amplifier, and its very low distortion
is achieved by building in a local feedback integrator around the switching
circuit to ensure that the average output voltage from each digital switching
cycle is exactly equal to the reference (desired) output voltage. This
eliminates the need to take overall negative feedback from the output
of the filtering circuits to the loudspeaker load, which complicates feedback
and limits the bandwidth of class-D amplifiers. The reduced component
count increases overall energy efficiency over class-D, and reduces heat
sink and cooling requirements, overall size, and cost.
Their range, launched at CES in 2005, heralded by critics as ground breaking around the world is now being expanded from their first products the Reference 8 and 9 mono blocks. Their 100w Reference 8.5 V3 Stereo features standard single ended inputs and is their first stereo power amplifier model, but still sits in the diminutive Reference mono chassis. The more powerful 190w Reference 9 V3, with balanced and single ended inputs continues the high standards the company.
The New Reference 9 Special Edition V3, with all new chassis and faceplate has been met with huge critical acclaim internationally. This follows all NuForce products in being both highly energy efficient, and is a the top of the Reference upgrade path. Buy a Reference amp (Version 1 or Version 2) and you can for a very small fee upgrade climb your system all the way up to the new Reference 9 V3, as your precious funds allow.
All NuForce products have been designed to work in any environment. All the user needs to do is plug them into the electrical supply. There are no mains selector switches as their mode of operation senses the voltage delivered on the input stage of the power supply. They have al been elegantly styled for use in any setting. They can be stacked together or be used as a screened component. They use the finest connectors available today.
