The all new NuForce Icon 1 desktop DAC and amp, is a real treat, its diminutive mini size will win favour amongst those who like a tidy desk. Its inputs will allow multiple inputs, both digital and analogue i.e. USB, RCA and 3.5mm. Most importantly however, is the sound. Well would you get anything else other than superb with NuForce.
Powered by a 240v DC adapter from a euro lead (supplied) its comes with USB and speaker cables and a stand.
Here at HIAudio we can vouch for how good it is. We have tried it driving the mighty Usher Be10 from a laptop source, an RME soundcard via RCA cables and a good old CD player. All with superb results. It is low power, and will not with normal speakers shake rooms apart, but then its a desktop amp, and this is where it excels. Put it on normal desktop speakers and expect to be shocked. But the real treat comes when yyou use the matching NuForce S1 desktop speakers, their efficiency and poise just shines through.
Its form factor allows it to sit next to any PC/Laptop and brings serious sound quality from a company that more and more people are getting to know, thanks to their superb Reference mono blocks.
